Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Neoclassical revival furniture is characterised by a return to classical Greek and Roman symmetry, geometric proportions, straight lines, and understated decorative motifs such as fretwork, urns, and fluting.

High-grade dense mahogany was predominantly favoured for fine cabinetry due to its stability and grain, combined with brass hardware, hand-blown glass glazing, and pine or oak secondary woods for internal drawer linings.

Authentic pieces from established makers often feature stamped impressions, brass plaques, or paper labels on drawer edges or upper panels, alongside hand-cut dovetail joints, original lock mechanisms, and consistent timber patination.

Placing a matching pair symmetrically to flank an architectural feature, such as a chimney breast, doorway, or large artwork, provides balanced proportion and functional display storage within modern or classic interiors.

Regular light dusting with a dry microfiber cloth is recommended, supplemented by occasional application of beeswax polish applied sparingly along the wood grain to maintain timber hydration and depth of finish.
