Arched glazed view windows to the sides and hinged glazed door to the front with catch release; matching door to the rear to access the movement. Sat on a moulded plinth with small brass bracket feet. The arched brass and silvered dial with engraved chapter ring and silvered centre bearing the makers name. Strike-silent dial set to the arch, decorative cast gilt brass spandrels set to the corners and the arch. The double fusee movement with engraved back plate, anchor escapement and quarter chiming on two bells to the quarters and the hour on one bell (see video for demonstration) Thomas Milton is recorded in Britten`s as working between 1767 and 1783 at Aldersgate Street, London and later at Red Cross Street. This example in superb condition with a rich colour and polish, the dial in immaculate condition and the movement fully overhauled and working.
