Regency period prints, produced predominantly between 1800 and 1830, frequently featured classical themes, portraits, and sentimental genre scenes. Techniques such as stipple engraving allowed for fine tonal gradations, which were often finished with delicate hand colouring.

Prints were executed on heavy woven paper using oil-based inks and watercolour washes. Framing involved hand-carved wood decorated with applied composition ornament (compo) and coated in water-gilded or oil-gilded gold leaf.
