Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian oil lamps typically featured brass or ceramic bases, decorated glass reservoirs, and etched glass shades, bridging the transition between Victorian utilitarianism and early electric lighting.

These lamps were constructed using cast or stamped brass, hand-painted or moulded glass reservoirs, blown glass chimneys, and etched or frosted glass shades, often set upon ceramic or timber plinths.

Authentic examples often display brass burner mechanisms with maker marks, natural surface oxidisation, and mouth-blown glass chimneys featuring subtle hand-made variations.

An antique paraffin lamp serves as a classic accent piece on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or console table, adding historical texture and height to modern eclectic or traditional interiors.

Clean glass components using warm water and mild liquid soap, while wiping brass elements gently with a soft microfiber cloth to avoid stripping the natural aged patina.
