Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Tilley lamp is a brand of pressure paraffin lamp originally manufactured in the United Kingdom during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. These lamps operated by vaporising liquid fuel under pressure to produce bright illumination for industrial, railway, and domestic outdoor applications.

Traditional pressure lamps were primarily constructed from solid spun brass or copper reservoirs with steel or brass tubular stems. Modern electrical conversions typically retain the metal body while adding isolated internal wiring, a standard bulb holder, and a fabric lamp shade.

Authentic pieces feature structural components related to pressure operation, such as a manual air pump valve, a control knob on the reservoir base, and heavy-gauge brass construction. Stamped manufacturer markings on the base or tank wall also confirm authenticity.

A converted pressure lamp serves as a functional accent piece on a desk, sideboard, or side table. Pairing metallic brass elements with neutral fabric shades creates a balanced visual contrast suitable for modern, industrial, or traditional study spaces.

Uncoated brass can be cleaned using a soft microfibre cloth and specialised metal polish, whereas lacquered brass requires only dry dusting. Fabric shades should be lightly vacuumed or dusted periodically to prevent dust build-up.
