18th Century Delft Vase Converted to a Table Lamp

Description

A good example of a 18th Century Delft vase which has been converted to a table lamp. The vase has an octagonal foot and short neck and is beautifully decorated with traditional blue and white Dutch scenes. It is a good quality piece and has been mounted to a wooden base.

It has been rewired to modern standards to take a standard bayonet bulb and is in working order with a valid PAT test certificate.

The vase has suffered some damages over its life and there are some hairline cracks and a lovely stapled repair to the neck but it still displays beautifully.

Delftware is tin-glazed earthenware produced predominantly around Delft in the Netherlands from the 16th century onwards. Characterised by cobalt blue hand-painted decoration on an opaque white glaze, it was originally created to emulate imported Chinese porcelain.
