This is a fine quality antique English Edwardian beech office chair, with a newly upholstered red leather seat, circa 1910, in excellent condition. The desk chair is designed with an elegant curved backrest above a bank of spindles, connected to shaped arms, which are secured by sweeping vertical supports. The Edwardian beech office chair seat has been newly upholstered with top quality full grain red leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The underside of the seat has been webbed in the traditional manner. Gently cabriole shaped legs to the front and rear support the chair, united by three turned and shaped stretchers for additional strength. Functional chairs were typically made from beech, as this species of wood is a particularly strong wood. This Edwardian office chair is very comfortable to sit on, having a shaped backrest and padded seat; it also retains a lovely colour and patination.

The chair has been newly upholstered in to top quality full grain red leather, which incorporates the traditional studwork tacks to the seat perimeter and traditional webbing to the underside. Therefore the leather upholstery is in excellent condition. Functional chairs were typically made from beech, as this species of wood is particular strong wood. The chair is well constructed, solid in joint and read to use.
