Description

William Greaves (1852-1938) was born in Leeds and studied at Sheffield College of Art. He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and Liverpool. He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.

This view "Near Otley" Yorkshire is an oil painting on board measuring 9" x 14". It is signed lower left and dated 1918. It is framed in an English frame finished in gold leaf giving an overall size of 14"x 20".
