Rare Victorian Malacca and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane.
The pommel to the top is silver and stamped with the London assay office mark and date letter for 1895. The makers stamp is for William Hutton & Sons Ltd of Farringdon Road London. It''s also stamped with the registration number 138685 for 1887 when the design was registered.
Unusual design with repousse work writhen twist which is hard to produce.
The shaft is Malacca which is a fibrous wood and is strong enough to support a good weight.
The silver is in good condition with no splits or holes but some minor surface marks.
The ferrule is original and made of polished red deer antler.
It measures 89.3 cm 35 1/8 inches in length, the pommel is 4.1 cm 1 5/8 inches wide and 3.2 cm 1 1/4 long.
It''s in good condition for it''s age but with some signs of age and use as you''d expect.
No damage or repairs to any part of the cane.
Perfect for an every day cane.
