Harrington Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
A craftswoman working within the family business, she was succeeded in turn by her sons, daughter-in-law, grandson and great-grandson. The Bateman family silversmithing company lasted until the middle of the nineteenth century.

This stunning example boasts a fine scallop shell bowl and tapering feathered handle. The ladle remains in an excellent condition throughout with good clear hallmarks.
Originally intended as a sauce ladle, this piece also works perfectly as a punch ladle.
