Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian toilet mirror, also known as a swing or box mirror, is an 18th-century tabletop mirror designed to sit upon a chest of drawers or dressing table. Featuring an oval or shield-shaped plate supported by curved uprights, these mirrors typically include a base unit with small drawers for storing grooming accessories.

These mirrors were predominantly constructed from dense mahogany or walnut, frequently accented with crossbanded veneer borders and fine string inlay. The drawers usually feature hand-dovetailed pine or oak linings, bone or brass keyhole escutcheons, and small turned wooden knobs.

Authentic George III pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints inside the base drawers, original silvered mirror glass with subtle foxing, and natural patination on the timber finish. The underside and back panels generally reveal hand-sawn wood marks and historic brass thumbscrews securing the swivel frame.

Position the mirror atop a bedroom dresser, sideboard, or console table to create an elegant focal point with functional storage. Complement the warm timber tone by pairing it with neutral wall palettes, ceramic trinket dishes, and soft ambient lighting.

Maintain the timber finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax polish sparingly along the grain twice a year. Avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or humid environments, and clean the glass gently with a damp cloth rather than spraying liquid cleaners directly onto the frame.
