Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian wardrobes are characteristically crafted from dark hardwoods such as walnut or mahogany, featuring architectural cornices, full-length mirrored central doors, elaborate panel mouldings, and intricate foliate hand carving.

Primary construction utilised solid walnut or mahogany frames complemented by decorative burr veneers, silvered glass mirror plates, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and solid brass key escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of traditional craftsmanship, including hand-carved relief panels, slight unevenness or oxidisation in the original mirror glass, hand-cut dovetail joints on internal drawers, and period brass locking mechanisms.

An antique wardrobe serves as a focal functional piece in modern bedrooms or dressing rooms, pairing effectively with neutral wall shades, natural linen textiles, and minimal contemporary lighting to balance its dark wood visual weight.

Dust surfaces regularly using a clean, soft dry cloth and nourish the timber annually with high-quality beeswax polish, keeping the cabinet positioned away from direct heat sources to prevent the wood veneers from lifting or cracking.
