Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A 1920s burr walnut fitted wardrobe typically features highly figured book-matched wood veneers, a shaped top crest, and structured interior compartments containing hanging space, drawers, and shelving tailored for clothing storage.

These pieces are crafted using thin slices of burr walnut veneer laid over solid timber substrates, such as pine or oak, and assembled with traditional dovetail and mortise-and-tenon joints alongside cast metal hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit distinctive figure patterns in the veneer, period-appropriate lock plates or drop handles, original internal storage labels or compartmentalisation, and short cabriole or bracket feet consistent with interwar styling.

Position the wardrobe as a focal storage piece against neutral plastered walls or muted paint schemes, balancing the dark patterned timber with light textiles and minimalist accent furnishings.

Dust surfaces regularly using a clean, soft microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically following the grain direction; avoid placing the item near direct heat sources or in direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement.
