Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco wardrobes, popular from the 1920s through the 1930s, feature bold geometric shapes, clean lines, and streamlined curves. They frequently showcase book-matched timber veneers, such as burr walnut or macassar ebony, paired with sleek metal or bakelite hardware.

Cabinetmakers during this period typically built the main carcass from sturdy hardwoods like oak or pine, which were then faced with decorative timber veneers like burr walnut. Hinges and handles were commonly executed in cast brass, chrome plate, or early plastics.

Authentic pieces generally show signs of traditional joinery, including hand-cut or machine-dovetailed drawer linings and original locks. Look for genuine wood veneer pattern matching across panel breaks and age-appropriate tarnishing on metal hardware.

A large vintage wardrobe serves as an impactful focal point against a neutral backdrop in a contemporary bedroom or dressing space. Pairing warm timber tones with understated textiles balances the visual weight of heavy 1920s cabinetry.

Keep timber surfaces away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent the veneer from drying or lifting. Regularly clean with a soft microfiber cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain to protect the finish.
