Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century Britain during the reign of King George III, an oak dresser typically comprises a lower storage base of drawers and cupboards paired with an upper open rack designed for displaying ceramics.

These pieces were crafted from solid native oak using traditional joinery methods such as hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon frames, and fielded panel doors with brass hardware.

Authentic examples exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, original iron or brass fixings with age-related oxidisation, uneven drawer linings, and natural shrinkage cracks consistent with historical wood movement.

A Georgian dresser functions effectively in a contemporary kitchen or dining area as a focal storage piece, styled with neutral modern ceramics or glassware to contrast with dark timber tones.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding modern aerosol sprays or direct placement near heat sources.
