Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in rural homes during the 18th century, a country oak dresser is a traditional piece of storage furniture featuring a low sideboard base topped with an open shelving rack. Historically designed for storing and displaying crockery, pewter, and household utensils, these dressers became central fixtures in English and Welsh country kitchens.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid native oak, often featuring pine or fruitwood secondary timbers for drawer linings and backboards. Construction methods typically included hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon joinery, and hand-planed panelled doors fitted with solid brass hardware.

Authentic 18th-century pieces usually exhibit signs of hand-tooling, such as hand-sawn backboards and irregular dovetail jointing. Look for natural wear patterns on drawer runners, original peg construction without modern steel screws, and age-related patination around original brass handles.

A Georgian oak dresser can be incorporated into modern spaces by pairing its rich timber tones with neutral wall palettes like off-white or deep navy. Modern ceramic tableware, linen textiles, and minimal glass decorative items can be arranged on the shelves to contrast the traditional woodwork without overwhelming the room.

Preserve the natural timber finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or splitting, and clean brass fittings gently without harsh chemical polishers.
