We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During late Qing dynasty China, cast bronze censers and vessels were produced both for domestic ritual use and for export to European collectors. These pieces frequently drew stylistic inspiration from archaic Shang and Zhou dynasty bronze forms, featuring classical motifs such as dragons, lotus medallions, and intricate relief work.

Chinese bronze vessels were predominantly crafted using lost-wax casting or multi-piece mould methods using copper-alloy metals. Once cast, artisans refined the details using hand-chasing tools and applied chemical or heat treatments to establish a deep, dark patina on the surface.

Authentic 19th-century Chinese bronzes display considerable weight relative to their size, precise hand-chased relief work around handles and panels, and natural wear to the patina. Original pieces often feature crisp casting detail on decorative handles and feet, along with age-appropriate surface oxidation inside recessed areas.

A bronze censer functions effectively as a sculptural accent on a console table, mantelpiece, or sideboard top. Its deep metallic tone and structured profile pair well with dark timber surfaces, natural stone, or modern neutral backdrops to add historical visual weight.

Dust the item regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a natural-bristle brush to clean detailed relief areas. Avoid using abrasive metal polishes, chemical solvents, or water, as these treatments strip the original surface patina and accelerate unwanted corrosion.
