Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency style wine cooler, historically referred to as a cellaret or cellarette, is a wooden container designed to hold ice and cool wine bottles during formal dining. Popularised in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these pieces feature zinc or lead linings and classical architectural details.

Traditional wine coolers were constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, often fitted with brass bands for structural reinforcement against moisture. Interiors featured lead or zinc liners, paired with carved timber supports and brass hardware.

Regency style wine coolers feature neoclassical decorative motifs such as gadrooned lids, carved rosettes, and monopodial legs shaped as mythical dolphins or lion paws. Structural indicators include hand-fitted joinery, heavy brass strapping, and patination on unvarnished surfaces.

A mahogany wine cooler functions as an accent piece in a dining room, drawing room, or hallway alcove. It can serve as a decorative side storage chest, a plant container, or a dedicated barware cabinet within contemporary interiors.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and applying beeswax polish annually along the direction of the grain. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid timber shrinkage and finish cracking.
