Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III style furniture encompasses pieces produced during the reign of King George III from 1760 to 1820. Characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and precise wood craftsmanship, this era emphasised functional design utilising quality timber such as Cuban and West Indian mahogany.

Georgian chests of drawers are constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over pine or oak carcass frames. Hand-cut dovetail joints, cast brass swan-neck handles, oak drawer linings, and bracket feet are standard construction features of this era.

Authentic George III chests display period-specific features including hand-sawn drawer bottoms, hand-cut dovetail joinery, original cast brass hardware, and natural timber shrinkage along the top or side panels. The presence of a pull-out brushing slide is also characteristic of mid to late 18th-century design.

A George III mahogany chest serves as a functional anchor piece in contemporary bedrooms, entryways, or living spaces. Positioning modern artwork or a minimalist mirror above the chest creates a balanced visual contrast between historic timber work and contemporary design.

Dust the chest regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the patina. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber movement and finish discolouration.
