Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian seating, produced between 1901 and 1910, is defined by a shift towards lighter proportions, refined lines, and classical revivals such as Hepplewhite and Sheraton styles. Frames frequently utilised polished mahogany or rosewood paired with open back splats and delicate carved motifs.

Edwardian furniture-makers predominantly used mahogany, walnut, and satinwood for framework. Construction involved traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-carved decorative elements, and drop-in or fixed upholstered seats padded with horsehair and coil springs.

Authentic Edwardian armchairs exhibit hand-cut joinery, aged patina along wood surfaces, and period-appropriate wear on leg terminals. Check the underside for original webbing, tacks, or cabinetmaker stamps, along with subtle irregularities in carved details indicating hand-finishing.

An Edwardian open armchair functions effectively as an accent piece alongside contemporary minimalist sofas or placed at a modern writing desk. Combining the warm wood frame with neutral textiles or geometric soft furnishings helps integrate the piece into present-day interior schemes.

Dust the wooden frame regularly with a dry lint-free cloth and apply high-grade beeswax once or twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Keep the armchair clear of direct heat sources and sunlight to avoid wood shrinkage and fabric fading.
