Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Regency seating, dating roughly from 1815 to 1830, is defined by classical Greek and Roman influences, sweeping scrolled armrests, turned or reeded legs, and carved crest rails made predominantly from dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany.

Cabinetmakers during this period primarily utilised solid mahogany for the frame due to its durability and rich grain. Seats were typically constructed with webbed timber frames fitted with drop-in pads upholstered in horsehair, wool, or velvet fabrics.

Authentic Regency armchairs feature hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, genuine aged patination, asymmetric wear on footrests, turned or reeded front legs, and splayed sabre legs at the rear.

An antique open armchair functions well as a standalone accent piece in a study, bedroom, or hallway, providing dark wood tones that contrast against contemporary neutral backdrops and minimalist interiors.

Maintain mahogany timber by applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and gently cleaning velvet upholstery with a soft brush.
