This is a fine quality antique English Victorian landscape oil painting, of a country scene depicting a lady and child outside a thatched cottage, by William R. Stone, circa 1880, in its original gold leaf frame, in excellent original condition. The painting depicts what looks to be mother and daughter in the lane outside a thatched cottage with what appears to be larger property on the opposite side both properties are encircled by trees. On the left there are two tree trunks with an old cart wheel. The painting has the skill to draw you in with its range of rustic colour hues and texture depicting the quintessential English country scene, possibly painted in late summer. The Victorian oil picture canvass is signed in the bottom left corner, protected by glass and framed in its original fabulous ornate gilt frame, which is in excellent condition.
This Victorian landscape oil painting would look superb in a variety of rooms, including the hallway, living room or bedroom. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is an attractive and colourful piece. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely picture.

The canvas is in excellent condition - the colours are strong and there is no sign of fading or crazing to the picture. The Victorian oil canvass is signed in the bottom left corner, protected by glass and housed in its original fabulous ornate gilt frame, which is in excellent condition. The frame has been re-gilded. Nominal old age marks to the leading edges of the gilt frame, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. This Victorian landscape oil painting is ready to hang.

William Richard Stone was born in 1840 in the country of Warwickshire, England. William R. Stone was a prolific painter of landscapes and winter landscapes of the countryside of England and Wales; much of his work being completed in Worcestershire and Herefordshire. He is also believed to have painted in the USA. William R. Stone exhibited with the Royal Society of Birmingham Artists. William R.
