1920 - 1940
For Sale by Art Deco World
Description

A very attractive Art Deco Czech crystal decanter with six glasses made by the glass maker Karl Palda. The Czech glassworks is most famous for its pieces made in the period of 1930's when striking and inventive geometric designs became a departure from the classic two toned crystal goblets and decanters with floral carved designs. This decanter boasts a very striking black and white geometric design which screams Art Deco. There are some light signs of wear commensurate with age, no damage.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco glass decanters from this era are defined by strong geometric forms, angular silhouettes, faceted surfaces, and contrasting decorative elements such as black enamelling, frosted panels, and acid-etched patterns.

These sets were typically crafted from hand-blown lead crystal or heavy glass, shaped through precise wheel-cutting and faceting, and detailed using black enamel application, satin frosting, or acid etching.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-polished pontil marks, crisp wheel-cut edges, heavy crystal construction, and precisely applied hand-painted enamel that follows geometric Art Deco motifs.

Display the set on a polished brass or timber bar cart, a dark wood sideboard top, or a glass-topped tray to highlight the monochrome contrast and faceted geometric silhouette.

Wash by hand using tepid water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive pads or dishwashers that can strip enamel or dull frosted surfaces, and dry thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth.
