Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian card tables were created during the eighteenth century to accommodate the popular social trend of card games in private homes. Designed with hinged fold-over tops, these tables opened to reveal felt or baize playing surfaces and folded closed to serve as side tables when not in use.

Craftsmen typically constructed Georgian card tables using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often incorporating decorative crossbanding in woods such as rosewood or satinwood. The interior playing surface was traditionally lined with wool baize.

Authentic George III card tables feature hand-cut joinery, square tapered legs, and double-hinged folding mechanisms. Look for evidence of natural timber shrinkage, original brass hinges, and historical wear on the gate-leg support mechanism.

A Georgian card table can be positioned against a wall as a console table when folded, topped with a contemporary lamp or decorative ceramics. Alternatively, it can be displayed fully open in a study or living area to create a dedicated gaming area.

Maintain the mahogany timber by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish periodically along the grain. Keep the green baize clean using a soft brush, and keep the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping and fabric fading.
