Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique library table is a flat-topped surface historically designed for reading, writing, and supporting reference books within private studies or home libraries. During the nineteenth century, compact variants were constructed for smaller study rooms or drawing room alcoves.

These tables were typically crafted from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak. The top surface frequently features a gold-tooled or blind-tooled leather insert, supported by turned legs, lower stretchers, and brass castors.

Authentic period library tables display traditional joinery techniques, natural oxidisation on brass hardware, and authentic wear patterns along the stretcher rails and feet. The leather inserts often exhibit light age-related surface patina and historic tooling marks.

A compact library table can serve as an elegant hallway console, a dedicated laptop desk for a home office, or a side table behind a sofa. Combining dark historic timber with contemporary lighting creates a balanced contrast in modern spaces.

Clean the wooden frame with a soft, dry cloth and apply natural beeswax along the timber grain. Keep the leather insert free of dust and occasionally apply a specialised leather conditioner to maintain flexibility and prevent drying.
