Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian bronze hall mirrors typically feature heavy sand-cast or lost-wax metal frames adorned with classical, Renaissance Revival, or Gothic motifs such as foliage, grotesque masks, and scrollwork. They often incorporate bevelled plate glass mirror inserts designed to reflect light in entryways and narrow corridors.

These pieces were produced using cast bronze or brass, which was subsequently chased and polished to highlight intricate surface patterns. The mirror plates were created using thick sheet glass with hand-bevelled edges, reflecting the industrial advances in glassmaking during the late nineteenth century.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-chased surface details, natural patination or oxidisation in crevices, and uneven reverse sides consistent with traditional casting methods. Original mirror glass may display light desilveration or foxing, and structural fixings will show historic craftsmanship rather than modern uniform screws.

A Victorian bronze mirror can serve as a focal point in a contemporary powder room, hallway, or gallery wall display. Positioning the warm metal tones against modern matte paint finishes or textured wallpapers creates balanced visual contrast without overwhelming the space.

Dust the metal frame regularly using a dry, soft-bristled brush to remove accumulation from detailed relief work. Avoid harsh liquid metal polishes that strip historical patina, and clean the glass separately using a damp microfiber cloth applied carefully to avoid moisture contact with the metal boundary.
