Rare Very Large 8-10 Seater Oak Dining Table

Description

Very large rare C17th solid oak gateleg table which seats up to 10 which is unusual for an antique gateleg table of this period. The long drawer to the centre is original. Fabulous solid oak barley twist legs support the oval flapped top. The table can be stored with the flaps down. When the table is in use the two flaps lift up and are supported on each side by a barley twist leg which swings out from the centre.. The flaps are 70 cms each in length and when down they are attached to the main frame by substantial iron hinges.. The construction of this impressive table is mostly peg construction. The feet, as is common for furniture of this age have been replaced due probably to the washing of the stone floors over the centuries.
