Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Edwardian era, formal dining required structured seating arrangements and printed menus. Silver menu and place card holders became standard table accessories, often crafted with detailed sporting, avian, or whimsical themes to prompt conversation among guests.

High-grade sterling silver was the primary material used for fine Edwardian table accessories, frequently cast and finished with hand chasing. Presentation sets were typically housed in wood-framed cases lined with velvet and silk.

Authentic British silver items feature full official hallmark stamps including the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay town mark, a specific date letter, and a registered makers mark. Fitted retailer cases bearing original retailer gilding also assist in verification.

These functional objects can be displayed on a formal dining table holding place cards or dinner menus, placed inside a glazed display cabinet alongside period silverware, or used on an office desk to display business cards.

Clean gently using a soft, non-abrasive silver cloth to remove tarnish without wearing down delicate surface chasing. Store in dry conditions within original velvet-lined cases to protect against atmospheric oxidisation.
