Description

This Beautiful Carved Chest is made from Camphor Wood, it is a hard wood which lends itself very well to carving. The main reason for using camphor wood is its fragrance, it smells a bit like Eucalyptus and this most attractive of smells repels moths hence its common use in the best quality Blanket Boxes

The chest is a classic shape with carvings of Ships and City scenes, the chest is carved on both the top and the front, the handles are inset carved, it stands on bracket style feet and has a large brass clasp with working original locker on the front, the interior is clean with sliding tray. High quality carved. Fantastic piece. Wonderful rich patina.
