Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Karaja or Gharajeh rugs are traditional hand-knotted textiles originating from the Karadagh region in Northwest Persia, located near Tabriz. They are recognised by their distinct geometric patterns, often featuring central latch-hooked medallions set against vibrant terracotta red and blue fields.

These rugs are hand-knotted using a wool pile woven onto a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. Artisans employ symmetric Ghiordes knots, creating a dense, durable weave coloured with traditional vegetable dyes.

Authentic pieces typically feature three central geometric medallions, often including a central star flanked by two distinct octagonal or square motifs. Natural variations in dye shade, known as abrash, along with soft wear to the wool pile, indicate genuine hand-knotted origins.

The bold geometric motifs and warm primary palette anchor contemporary spaces by introducing texture and warmth. Placing the rug over light timber flooring or beneath modern neutral furniture provides visual contrast and balance.

Vacuum gently without a rotating brush bar to prevent pulling the wool pile. Clean spills immediately by blotting with a damp cloth, and consult a professional rug restorer for periodic deep cleaning.
