Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sorrento inlaid furniture originated in the 19th century in the Sorrento peninsula of Italy. It is recognised for intricate marquetry and wood micro-mosaics creating detailed geometric borders, pictorial central scenes, and decorative patterns.

Craftsmen typically utilised locally sourced Mediterranean woods, including olivewood, walnut, chestnut, and fruitwoods. Contrasting light and dark veneers were dyed or naturally selected to form detailed pictorial designs.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut wood veneers, micro-mosaic bandings, and turned central pedestals with hand-carved legs. Look for natural oxidation on the underside of the timber, original joinery methods, and minor shrinkage lines along veneer seams.

An inlaid tripod table functions as an accent piece alongside upholstered seating or positioned in a reading corner. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for holding books, table lamps, or small decorative glassware without overwhelming a contemporary layout.

Maintain wood marquetry by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying beeswax sparingly once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer warping and color fading.
