Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco wardrobes from the 1930s typically feature clean geometric silhouettes, decorative wood veneers such as bookmatched burr walnut, and subtle stepped detailing reflecting the influence of modernism and streamlined industrial aesthetics.

Pieces from this period prominently utilised figurative walnut and burr walnut veneers laid over solid timber frames, often secured with traditional mortise and tenon joinery alongside cast brass or early synthetic hardware.

Authentic 1930s pieces usually display symmetrical, bookmatched grain patterns across large door surfaces, stepped or rounded plinth bases, period-correct brass or metal handles, and internal fitted shelving or hanging rails.

Position the wardrobe as a focal point against neutral walls to highlight the rich walnut grain, pairing it with minimalist lighting, textured linen bedding, and complementary warm wood accents to balance modern and heritage elements.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent uneven fading or drying of the veneer. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year.
