Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian inlaid settee is a two-person seat produced during the Victorian era, characterized by decorative wood marquetry set directly into the mahogany or rosewood frame, often featuring curved crest rails and tailored upholstery.

These settees were predominantly constructed using dark dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut. Inlay details were created using contrasting timber veneers like satinwood or boxwood, paired with woven damask, silk, or velvet upholstery fabrics.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut timber joinery, natural grain variations within the marquetry, corner blocks beneath the seat frame, and hand-tacked upholstery edge finishes on timber sub-frames.

A Victorian settee functions well in entrance halls, beneath window alcoves, or at the foot of a bed, bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalist or layered transitional decor.

Timber frames should be dusted with a soft microfiber cloth and treated with beeswax periodically. Fabric upholstery requires gentle vacuuming with a soft brush attachment and professional spot-cleaning for non-water-soluble marks.
