New Hall Bone China Porcelain Tea Cup & Saucer Pattern 750 / 752 Rare Variant

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Fancy Fox

An attractive New Hall bone china bute shape tea cup and saucer with and oriental type scene of house and garden underglaze mazarine blue, pale blue and orange enamel and lots of gilt augmentation. Documented as pattern 750 or 752 for the main scene, the difference between these two pattern numbers being the design of the gilt border. This set has a third different gilt border design which is not documented as far as I can find. Unmarked, c.1810.

Reference: New Hall, David Holgate, page 194, plates 84, 287 and 288.

The cup measures 8.3cm (3 1/4'') rim to rim and 5.8cm (2 1/4'') high and the saucer measures 13.2cm (5 1/4'') wide and 3.2cm (1 1/4'') high.

In good condition; the cup has a tight hairline on the rim and another across the bottom of the handle. The latter appears to be a firing line but it has been stabilised also. The saucer has no issues and both pieces have minimal handling wear, just very minor to the rim of the cup.
