In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early 18th-century brass candlesticks are characterised by cast construction, octagonal or circular faceted bases, and baluster-turned stems. Originating during the Queen Anne and early Georgian eras, these pieces reflect a transition towards turned architectural knops and molded bases.

Candlesticks from this period were cast using brass alloys consisting primarily of copper and zinc. Stems were often cast in two longitudinal halves and seamed together or cast solid, featuring hand-turned knops and hand-tooled finishing details.

Authentic period pieces exhibit seam lines inside the socket or along the stem from two-part mould casting, along with irregular hand-turning marks on the underside of the base. They often display natural surface wear, dark oxidisation in crevices, and minor structural variations between paired items.

Place these metalwork accents on a dining table, sideboard, or mantelpiece to introduce warm metallic tones and structured form. Combining period metalwork with contemporary ceramics or neutral table linens creates a balanced dialogue between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove surface debris. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that can strip away natural surface patination and historic hand-turned detailing.
