Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Brass candlesticks became widely manufactured across Europe during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries due to advancements in metal casting techniques. They served as primary portable light sources in domestic interiors prior to the widespread adoption of gas and electric illumination.

Historically, brass candlesticks were cast in molten alloyprimarily composed of copper and zincusing sand or lost-wax moulds. Stems were often cast in two vertical halves and brazed together, then turned on a lathe to create smooth profiles and decorative baluster shapes.

Authentic period pieces often display join lines along the stem from two-part casting, circular turning marks on the underside of the base, and slight asymmetry. Weight is also a factor, as older cast brass pieces are typically heavier than modern hollow stamped reproductions.

Position a pair of brass candlesticks symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, dining table, or sideboard to establish visual balance. The metallic finish contrasts well against dark painted walls, natural timber, and contemporary linen table settings.

Dust regularly with a microfibre cloth and remove residual wax by soaking the area in warm water to soften the build-up. Apply a specialist metal polish sparingly if a high shine is preferred, or leave unpolished to allow the natural oxidisation and patina to develop over time.
