Clenched Fist War Club, Pitcairn Islands/native American,C1880
Status:This item has been sold Sold by:Curious Antiques
A rare and unusual 19th century war club,c1880. The head of the club is presented as a clenched fist which is an unusual form, but one I have seen occasionally in Native American clubs, but more usually in clubs and sticks from the Pitcairn Islands in the South Pacific. Hand carved in hardwood the club is a good weight for its size at 0.6kg ,well balanced and capable of delivering a heavy blow. The colour of the wood is lovely following many years of handling and use. Overall condition is good ,there is a small loss to one knuckle (please see photographs) which looks to have happened many years ago perhaps during use in anger. There is a small hole drilled in the end presumably to allow some form of carrying handle/rope. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me if you would like to view the item or have any questions.
Price includes FREE UK delivery please contact me regarding international shipping.
Size: 54cm tall/long x 7cm wide x 6cm deep, weight 0.6kg.
