Description

A late 19thc oil on canvas of a still life of late summer chrysanthemums and foliage signed bottom right by Rochie T Jones. Dated to c1880. Reminiscent of Dutch still life painting, this image depicts a substantial and sumptuous arrangement of late summer flowers, mainly chrysanthemums with abundant foliage in a clean water filled bulbous vase. The vase sits on a Victorian mahogany table of typical design, covered with a chenille or velvet tablecloth. Reframed in a contemporary frame with gold, green and reddish tones, reflecting the colours in the picture. In excellent condition.
