Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Kurdish rugs originate from the nomadic and semi-nomadic Kurdish tribes of the Middle East, renowned for their geometric tribal iconography, saturated colours, and durable construction. Distinct features frequently include stacked diamond medallions with latch-hook motifs, abstract animal figures, and framed geometric borders.

These rugs were hand-knotted using locally sourced, hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and the foundation. The wool was dyed using natural plant and mineral dyes, producing rich, saturated tones with subtle variations in colour, known as abrash.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display organic variations in design symmetry and dye colours due to village weaving conditions. The reverse side reveals visible hand-knotted construction, flexible wool foundations, and soft wear patterns consistent with age rather than chemical distressing.

A long tribal runner works effectively in hallways, entry corridors, or galley kitchens to introduce texture and depth. Positioned over light timber or stone flooring, the saturated dark ground and geometric motifs provide architectural grounding and visual contrast.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotary brush bar to protect the wool fibres. A high-quality underlay pad should be positioned underneath to prevent slippage and reduce wear, and professional spot cleaning by a textile specialist is recommended.
