Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A cartographers folio table is a specialized piece of library or office furniture designed with expansive top surfaces, shallow drawers, or hinged lift-tops specifically constructed for storing, drafting, and examining large maps, architectural plans, and prints.

Georgian folio tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, prized for their durability and dark grain. High-grade brass fittings, castors, and hand-cut dovetail drawer joinery were standard features of the era.

Authentic Georgian pieces typically feature hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetails on drawers, solid wood drawer linings, original cast-brass or wood-knob hardware, and genuine wear around leg terminals and castors.

A cartographers folio table works well as a central desk in a home office or library, or as a statement freestanding table in a spacious hall. Pair it with modern task lighting and clean-lined seating to create a balanced contrast between historical and contemporary elements.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish annually. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and sudden changes in humidity to prevent wood shrinkage or splitting.
