A 19th century oil on canvas depicting a boy sleeping on steps with collected bugs escaping from his box and running riot around the room.
The work depicts a charming subject which encourages the viewer to try and spot as many bugs as possible. There is some light craquelure in areas but generally the work remains in a very good condition throughout.
The work is housed in a very attractive substantial giltwood frame which has a maker''s label verso for ''J. Tout & Son, Portsea''.
A lovely work of good proportions.
