Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival refers to furniture produced in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that recreates mid-eighteenth-century designs by Thomas Chippendale. Common characteristics include dense mahogany construction, carved pierced splats, rococo or gothic decorative elements, and sturdy cabriole or square legs.

Primary timber was almost exclusively high-grade mahogany due to its fine grain, strength, and suitability for intricate carving. Seats were commonly upholstered in woven fabrics, horsehair, or dark leather over solid timber frames.

Revival pieces display late Victorian or Edwardian joinery methods, such as crisp mortise-and-tenon joints, refined machine-assisted carving finished by hand, and smooth internal corner blocks rather than hand-rived eighteenth-century construction.

These armchairs serve as carvers at the head and foot of a contemporary dining table or as accent seating flanking a hallway console table. Their dark timber pairs effectively with neutral wall shades, natural stone, and modern minimalist textiles.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Keep the chairs away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, joint loosening, or upholstery fading.
