Masons Antiques has dated this Rosewood Gothic Bracket Clock to the 1850s.
It has tapered cluster columns to the front corners with "pyramid" style finials above. To the lower half of the case is a brass surround inset panel with intricate inlaid brass fretwork. It terminates to a shaped and moulded plinth and stands on gadrooned bun feet. It has a superb original patination and lustre. To the sides are arched brass sound frets backed with contrasting red material.
The 8 day, 5 pillar, pull-repeat, twin fusee, movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee. It has a London style, lockable pendulum and is signed "Wm DOBBIE. Clockmaker to the Queen. FALKIRK. 1844."
The 7" off-white dial has black Roman numerals with an outside minute track and birdsbeak hands. It has a cast brass bezel with silvered sight ring.
Complete with original cranked winding key. (Always a sign that a clock has been well cared for from new.)
An outstanding clock where both the case and the movement are an example of the very finest workmanship and materials.
