Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating between 1901 and 1910, Edwardian tub chairs feature a continuous curved backrest that flows into the armrests. Influenced by 18th-century Sheraton designs, they often incorporate lighter proportions, delicate marquetry inlay, and swept arm supports compared to heavier Victorian predecessors.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or rosewood, frequently accented with satinwood stringing and marquetry medallions. The seats were traditionally stuffed with horsehair, supported by webbing, and upholstered in decorative fabrics or leather.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, tapered square or turned legs, and fine satinwood or boxwood inlay on the crest rail and leg faces. The underside typically shows hand-sawn timber framing and traditional webbing fasteners.

An Edwardian tub chair functions well as an occasional seat alongside a writing desk, in a bedroom alcove, or paired next to a side table in a living room. Its compact footprint adds warmth and structure without visual clutter.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the grain. Keep the chair away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and upholstery fading.
