Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian card tables typically feature a fold-over top mounted on a swivel mechanism, allowing the top surface to open into a larger square playing area. Crafted primarily during the nineteenth century, these pieces feature rich figurative grain, carved aprons, and turned pedestal bases.

High-end Victorian card tables were constructed using fine hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, or walnut, often with solid pine or mahogany secondary timbers. Playing surfaces were traditionally lined with wool baize, and bases were fitted with brass castors.

Authentic nineteenth-century card tables feature original swivel mechanisms, hand-cut joinery in internal storage compartments, and original brass castors. The underside of the timber will typically show natural ageing, hand-planing marks, and consistent patination.

When folded, a card table functions effectively as a hallway console table or an occasional accent piece behind a sofa. Modern spaces often contrast the dark timber with contemporary artwork, table lamps, or decorative ceramics.

Rosewood furniture should be kept away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent drying out and timber bleaching. Applying a natural beeswax polish twice a year helps maintain the natural moisture and preserve the original surface patina.
