Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Corner cupboards gained immense popularity in eighteenth-century Britain as practical architectural furniture designed to utilise dead space in dining rooms and parlours. Often constructed in two tiers, these pieces allowed homeowners to securely store dinnerware, spirits, and linens while displaying fine woodwork.

High-grade native and imported hardwoods were primary materials, with Cuban mahogany, flame mahogany veneers, and oak being widely favoured. Secondary woods such as pine or deal were used for internal shelving and backboards, secured with hand-cast brass hardware like H-hinges.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber backboards, original brass ironwork, mortise and tenon joinery, and irregular irregularities on non-visible surfaces consistent with hand-tooling. Veneer thickness and hand-cut dovetails on internal drawers also indicate traditional craftsmanship.

A substantial corner cabinet anchors underutilised corners in dining rooms, entrance halls, or drawing rooms without obstructing foot traffic. Pairing the rich timber with contemporary neutral paint schemes allows the natural wood grain and architectural proportions to stand out.

Regular dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and an occasional coat of beeswax polish maintain the timber patina and prevent drying out. The cabinet should be kept clear of direct heat sources and radiator units to protect the wood veneers from cracking or lifting.
