Antique Rosewood Inlaid Mantel Clock With Thermometer Savory & Fils A Paris

£1,000    $1,342    €1,189

Antique Rosewood Inlaid Mantel Clock With Thermometer Savory & Fils A Paris.

This beautiful antique rosewood mantel clock has a shaped top with a rectangular body, array of mouldings to the bottom, and rectangular base. The front of the clock is then intricately inlaid with brass and mother of pearl in fantastic floral patterns. The front centre of the case then has a fantastic silvered thermometer surrounded by a brass frame. The thermometer is then marked “Thermometre Paris 1802” as well as the measurements. The whole clock then sits on a brass inlaid, rosewood base which sets it off beautifully. It then has its original dome although it is unfortunately cracked to the back although this is hardly noticeable.

The dial is then silvered and a skeletonised example so that the front of the movement can be seen. It is then set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. The dial then has a lovely brass surround that frames it perfectly. Finally the dial has two lovely shaped fingers as well as being signed to the bottom by the maker “SAVORY & FILS A PARIS”.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It ticks away and chimes as it should and comes complete with its regulating pendulum and winding key. It chimes both the number of hours on the hour as well as once on the half past via a bell. The movement is then stamped bu the maker “SAVORY PARIS” as well as “265” and “Brocot BREVETE”.

Listed for collection in person due to the dome although a courier can be provided.
