This impressively large industrial Iron Chamber stick was designed by Hugo Berger for Goberg around 1910 in West Germany. Often sold by Liberty in the UK, his pieces were in keeping with the Arts and Crafts style so favoured at the time.
The handsome, handmade chamber stick comprises of a central column in a large round bowl with a flared riveted handle, and matchbox holder to the side. It is decorated with rivets around the rim, candle holder and base, has beaten dots to the bowl and has ''GOBERG'' impressed into the base.
It stands 12cm high, 22.5cm wide across the bowl, and 28cm across its widest point to the handle. It is a lovely piece, and whilst I have seen many examples of other ''Goberg'' chamber sticks, I haven''t come across this particular design before.
The chamber stick is found untouched - cleaned but not polished so that the buyer may decide how they prefer it, and is currently displayed with its ''used'' patina.
Please don''t hesitate to get in touch if I can provide any further images or information.
