Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

In Georgian furniture design, a lowboy or side table is a small table fitted with multiple drawers, originally designed for dressing rooms or entryways. Usually supported by cabriole or square legs, these pieces feature a flat top and decorative apron details.

Provincial Georgian furniture relied heavily on native English hardwoods such as elm, oak, and fruitwood. Internal drawer linings were often made of pine or oak, fitted with hand-cast brass swan-neck or teardrop handles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of hand-craftsmanship, including hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular drawer linings, and hand-planed underside surfaces. The timber displays natural shrinkage over time, uneven patination, and historic wear around handles and legs.

Place an antique side table in an entryway or hallway to create a focal point, topped with modern ceramic vessels or a contemporary lamp. The warmth of historical timber contrasts effectively against clean, neutral modern walls.

Maintain antique elm wood by applying a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve moisture and protect the surface patina. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or splitting.
