Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the early 18th century during the reign of Queen Anne, the lowboy is a small side table or dressing table featuring a set of drawers and a shaped lower apron. It was frequently designed as part of a matching set alongside a tallboy or chest-on-chest.

Traditional lowboys were crafted using solid hardwoods or native timbers such as walnut, elm, oak, and mahogany. Construction features typically include hand-cut dovetail joints, oak drawer linings, brass drop handles, and hand-planed tops.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit characteristic design elements such as cabriole legs, pad or bun feet, arched or shaped aprons, and understated ornamentation. Structural indicators include hand-worked timber surfaces, uneven wear consistent with age, and original brass fittings.

A lowboy functions as an accent piece in a hallway, bedroom, or living area. It can be paired with contemporary artwork or a wall mirror, positioned beneath structured table lamps, or used as a compact writing desk.

To preserve the timber finish, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources, radiators, and prolonged sunlight to prevent drying or warping.
